Breathe & Pray
I invite you to let your eyes close if that feels comfortable - and to join me in the spirit of prayer or meditation.
I invite you to connect to your breath. The inhalation, the exhalation.
The subtle movements in your body as you breath.
I invite you to feel each inhalation as a gift, the gift of breath, of life-force, of energy, of oxygen.
And I invite you to experience each exhalation as an offering, an offering of breath, of life-force, of energy.
We might begin to feel the cycles of our breath, like a lighthouse, guiding us home.
Home to stillness, home to our center.
That center, that ground of being - which sits un-stirred by the quakes of fear, of change of uncertainty.
That center within - made of Love, made to love and made to be loved.
From this center place, where the stillness guides us to, we gather strength and feel the gratitude of connection.
From this place we celebrate all new life and new creations coming into being this week.
We celebrate the possibilities of a new season and the glow of autumn mornings.
We celebrate the courage to take a knee.
And from this place, this center within, we hold all those this week suffering from chronic pain, illness, and loss.
In the stillness we remember that our breath is always available to us as a guide, as a guide in those moments when life feels too much - too scary, too overwhelming, too uncertain - just too much.
O Spirit of Life and Love, we aren't the giants we'd like so much to be, and the world can loom so large.
When all is quiet and we are small and the night is dark, may we hear the tender breathing of all who lie awake with us in fear, that together we may gather strength to live with love, and kindness, and confidence.
Amen and Blessed Be.
